Habitat Characterization at the Ecosystem Level
Cabled regional observatories, such as the OOI-Regional Scale Nodes, will enable the collection of synoptic data for habitat characterization at the ecosystem level. These insights will allow us to better understand:
- forcing functions that change ecosystem structure
- trophic cascades
- distribution and density of microplankton, zooplankton, and top predators, including fish and marine mammals, and
- predator-prey interactions.
