Dive R1839 Highlights International District
During ROPOS Dive R1839, the mass spectrometer (MASSP-2015) and RAS-PPS-2015 (fluid-microbial DNA sampler) winstalled at El Gordo. A temperature of 55°C was achieved inside the cap. ROPOS placed the temperature-resistivity instrument on the summit of Escargot and installed the digital still camera at El Gordo. ROPOS investigated El Guapo and then transited to the Skadi site active with limited effusion of fluid and small white bacterial mats inside the caverns. Credit: NSF-OOI/UW/ISS, V15.
