Patchiness in the Oceans: Studying Microzooplankton Populations

Dr. Danny Grunbaum, a biological oceanographyer at the University of Washingon, and his graduate student Owen Coyle discuss the importance of understanding the distribution and abundances of microzooplankton in the ocean.  Patches of these and other organisms serve as critical food sources for much of the life living in the surface waters. Together, Grunbaum and Coyle are developing a flow-through system to analyze microzooplankton from aboard a ship.
