This video was produced by University of Washington undergraduate student Don Setiawan. He is a student in the College of the Environment, School of Oceanography. Don was fascinated by the new capability of streaming live high-definition video from the largest active underwater volcano off the Oregon-Washington coast via the RSN-OOI cabled observatory. During Leg 1 of the VISIONS'14 Expedition, he worked with Ben Brand, an engineer from the UW Applied Physics Laboratory, who was instrumental in desinging and building the internal components of the camera system. Here, Don explains how this camera works and some of the scientific investigations that it allows.
