The Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI) is an NSF-funded integrated observatory facility spanning the western hemisphere. The OOI is managed and coordinated by the OOI Program Management Office at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). Implementing Organizations (IOs) are subcontractors to WHOI. They are responsible for the management, operations and maintenance of the five in water arrays. Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is responsible for the Coastal Pioneer Array and the Global Arrays (Irminger Sea and Station Papa). Oregon State University is responsible for the uncabled Coastal Endurance Array off Oregon and Washington and the Cyberinfrastructure component, including data storage hardware and distribution software. The University of Washington is responsible for the Region Cabled Array cabled seafloor systems and moorings spanning the Cascadia Margin to 300 miles offshore at Axial Seamount.
