Hey there! My name is Kathleen Gonzalez and I am currently a Junior at UW pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biological oceanography. I absolutely love the ocean and all the cute critters that live there. This will be my third year on a Visions’ cruise and I just can’t get enough! Being a student participant on a Visions’ cruise and being able to get hands on experience and learn from renowned scientists and engineers on a vessel deploying and monitoring such innovative instruments is life changing. I’ve been working with the RSN team on land for almost two years now, and I enjoy learning about what it takes both at sea and behind the scenes to make this research cruise happen. Outside of my work and studies I like to volunteer for environmental cleanups and outreach with the public, spend time at any aquarium I can, snuggle with my cat, and make crafts for friends and family.
