Matthew is a sophomore mechanical engineering major at UW Bothell with interests in ocean engineering and HVAC. He’s involved in research on hydrophones, which are to be used on a buoy deployed in Lake Washington to study the effect of traffic noise on marine life. He’s also taking part in a project to analyze different crow calls and examine their purpose. Matthew is looking forward to getting a firsthand look at what ocean engineering is like. He’s excited to be in an unfamiliar at-sea environment while also working alongside professional engineers and scientists. In his free time, Matthew teaches guitar and drums at a local music school. He also enjoys woodworking and anything involving tools.
