Neah Baechler is a Geology Major at the College of Charleston focusing on marine processes. She is a member of the Benthic Acoustic Mapping and Survey program at the College and researched and presented a poster at the THSOA 13’ conference. She interned for Dr. Peter Etnoyer with the NOAA CCEHBR lab classifying ocean floor substrate for deep-sea coral habitat and aided in reconnaissance mapping with the NOAA SEFIS survey aboard the NOAA ship Pisces. Neah is excited to participate in the VISIONS 14’ cruise off of her home state of Oregon and plans to support Dr. Leslie Sautter of the C of C Marine Geology course by teaching live from the deck of the Thompson. After graduating Neah intends to continue mapping the seafloor and applying marine geologic breakthroughs to educate about the interconnectivity of marine ecosystems with the human world
