Rick Berg is a graduate student studying marine geochemistry at the University of Washington. In Dr. Evan Solomonís lab at the UW, his research is focused on biogeochemical cycling, gas hydrate dynamics, and fluid flow in marine sediments and at convergent margins. Sailing on the Hydrate Ridge leg of the VISIONSí14 cruise will give him the opportunity to directly study the highly active hydrate system there, and he is excited to participate in the effort to connect Hydrate Ridge to the RSN network. Prior to coming to the UW, Rick earned his BS/MS in Earth Sciences from the University of California, San Diego.
