John Teal, Jr. (Leg 3)

My name is John R Teal Jr., and I am a non-traditional student from the Olympic Peninsula and I hold an Associate of Computer Science from Peninsula College. Before returning to higher education, I served in the US Navy with over 800 days at sea in a forward deployed fleet in Yokosuka, Japan, and worked in logistics for two decades. My academic background includes extensive coursework in programming, calculus, and physics. As a former president of the Peninsula College STEM Club, I have shown leadership and a commitment to advancing my academic and professional goals. I aspire to get into either the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) or Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) program at the University of Washington.

I am particularly interested in drone technology and automation processes and participated in the Lunar Rover Development project last summer at UW/NASA SURP. Additionally, I spent 8 years living in Japan, 5 of which were during my youth, allowing me to learn to speak Japanese natively. I look forward to contributing to the VISIONS’24 project by assisting in any way I can.
