Hello, my name is Juliet Wiener, and I’m thrilled to be participating on the Visions Cruise this summer. As an oceanography major entering my junior year at the University of Washington, I’m eager to expand my knowledge surrounding marine technology and marine microbes. This expedition offers an unmatched opportunity to dive deeper into both of these subjects while surrounded by a team of exceptional scientists and peers. I am excited to grow both personally and professionally in such a unique setting, and to experience my first research cruise. As an assistant at the University of Washington Marine Chemistry Laboratory, I’ve been trained to analyze marine samples in a lab setting. Now, I’m looking forward to collecting these types of samples while at sea and learning to apply my skills in a real-world context.
