Welcome to the VISIONS '18 Daily Log. Follow our expedition onboard the R/V Roger Revelle using the remotely operated vehicle Jason, June 19-August 5, 2018. The goal of this cruise is to complete the fourth year of the Operations and Maintenance component of the National Science Foundations' Ocean Observatories Initiative Regional Cable Array. Efforts during this expedition includes recovering and installing >100 cabled instruments on the seafloor and in the water column from depths of 10,000 ft beneath the oceans' surface. We will also be adding numerous new instruments with funding to outside researchers from the National Science Foundation, Office of Navy Research and from the University of Bremen, Germany. Here, daily updates will be provided, as well as a look-ahead at follow-on operations.
