Fragile Pink Sea Urchin (Strongylocentrotus fragilis)
Commonly seen at the Oregon Offshore and Slope Base sites, S. fragilis is a regular sea urchin (meaning it is roughly spherical with a ventral mouth and an anus on the dorsal surface). This species is slightly flattened, and usually has a pale pink coloration and short, thin white spines. They are distributed across the continental shelf and slope off the west coast of North America, generally in waters below 200 meters.
