Erik Perkins (Leg 1)

Hi! My name is Erik and I am a rising senior at the University of Washington studying Geophysics (under the Earth and Space Sciences Major), with a focus in seismology and geomorphology. This will be my first time on a research vessel, and I look forward to conducting research in a setting and in an environment that’s totally new to me, and broadening my base of knowledge in geosciences from the Earth’s surface to some of its least studied and most extreme environments found at the bottom of the ocean. In my future career, I hope to use skills I’ve learned at the UW to find new unidentified fault lines that pose a risk to communities and infrastructure.
