Loading the Thompson 1

This time-lapse video represents four intense days loading the University of Washington's R/V Thomas G. Thompson at the dock in Seattle for the Enlighten'10 research cruise. On July 26, 2010, the ship set sail on the first of many cruises related to the UW-led cabled ocean observatory component of the National Science Foundation's Ocean Observatories Initiative.

This time-lapse video was photographed and produced by Katherine Turner and Carlos Sanchez, graduate students in the Digital Media program at UW. They will be working as a team to complete short documentary videos about the expedition and the research behind it.
