Hello!
My name is Leland Wood. I just completed my first year at the University of Washington with an ambition to major in Oceanography and minor in marine biology and chemistry. Coming from Newport, Oregon, I grew up on the ocean and developed a love and a passion for everything ocean related. I am currently involved in research studying fitness of mussels and oysters within the Puget Sound. After being out to sea aboard the R/V Oceanus conducting research on marine megafauna, I am ecstatic for another chance to go out to sea. I absolutely love the deep sea and am particularly excited to be able to work with the ROV Jason. When I’m not in the lab or in class, I love to go tide pooling, hiking in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, or kayaking in the sound.
