Chuck McGuire, a Principal Engineer at the University of Washington Applied Physics Laboratory, and one of the engineering leads on the NSF-OOI-UW Cabled Array project, used a drone during the VISIONS’17 Cabled Array cruise to provide a rare “eye in the sky” view of the research vessel the R/V Roger Revelle. This global class research ship, operated by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, provided critical support for the 2017 Regional Cabled Array Operations and Maintenance cruise July 25-August 29, 2017. This video was taken during the first test flight of the drone – there are more to come. Credit: C. McGuire and M. Elend, University of Washington, V17.
