Nadia Martynenko (Leg 1)
Hello, My name is Nadia Martynenko, I am a rising Senior at the University of Washington majoring in Oceanography with an emphasis on learning and working with Oceanographic instruments. My primary focus has been working with Seagliders with the Student Seaglider Center, established at the University of Washington. Participating in VISIONS’25 will allow me to gain firsthand experience with deep-sea operations, working alongside professional ocean technicians, engineers, and scientists. While Seagliders dive to depths of 3,000 feet, I am eager to work with ROV Jason at depths three times greater, deploying and recovering sophisticated oceanographic instruments. Understanding how the Regional Cabled Array is maintained and how real-time data is collected, transmitted, and analyzed will be invaluable to my education. Going out to sea is a special experience, something I look forward to experiencing once again.
