Modifications to the RSN cabled observatory suggested at the RSN-Axial Workshop in Seattle, WA October 5-7, 2011.

The half-size test frame at Axial shows little corrosion and only minor biofouling after nearly a year in the water. A test plexiglass panel and camera dome were each coated on one-half of their exposed surfaces with a new material (ClearSignal) intended to prevent attachment by marine organisms. The material present is very new and thought to be biological in origin from the "snowblower" vents that became active during the April 2011 eruption. Photo courtesy of Jim Varnum/JASON, 1 Aug 2011
