I am currently a senior at the University of Washington Tacoma pursuing an Environmental Science degree. I am retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after twenty years of service as a marine science technician. During that time, I responded to many environmental emergencies, both natural and man-made. I acted as a field safety officer during hurricanes Katrina and Ike and oversaw the cleanup and investigation of hundreds of oil and hazardous material spills. I am interested in the role of the oceans in climate change as well as the movement of pollutants through both marine and freshwater environments. While I have much experience underway on the Atlantic, I am looking forward to my first time in the Pacific.
