Jessica Pineda is a first-generation undergraduate senior at the University of Washington, pursuing a double major in Marine Biology and Aquatic & Fishery Sciences. Some of her interests include invertebrate physiology, hydrothermal vent communities, and deep-sea fishes. Equipped with a background in natural sciences, she sees this venture as the perfect opportunity to reinforce her classroom-based studies through experiential learning on-board the R/V Thomas G. Thompson. “I look forward to working in the field with research scientists and having the opportunity to gain valuable skills alongside the undergrad crew.”
