Ryan Groussman is a senior at the University of Washington, pursuing a B.S. in Molecular Biology.  He worked on on commercial marine vessels for a number of years before returning to school to earn a degree.  Now, he looks forward to working on the sea again, this time as a researcher on the VISIONS ’14 cruise.  Ryan is interested in phytoplankton and associated bacteria and viruses, and their synergistic effects on biogeochemical cycling.  When he’s not studying or working, he likes to ride around on his bike.
