Eberhard Kopiske (Leg 2)

Eberhard is a visiting research assistant from the Geosciences group at the MARUM Center for Marine Environmental Sciences, Bremen, Germany. He is joining the VISIONS’23 expedition to help recover a sonar system, a CTD, and a 4K camera system at Hydrate Ridge, which were used to characterize methane gas that naturally seeps out of the seafloor at this site. The goal was to monitor the activity and locations of these potent greenhouse gas emissions over a long period of time in order to understand what controls the observed variations.
