Emily Pinneo (Legs 2 & 3)

Emily Pinneo is a Marine Biology and Oceanography double major at the University of Washington. She is interested in the ecology and geology of deep sea ecosystems, especially hydrothermal vents, methane seeps, and whale falls. After collecting, caring for, and releasing nudibranchs at Friday Harbor labs, she is especially interested to learn more about deep sea nudibranch species. She is excited to practice photography, visual art and writing in order to enhance scientific communication and encourage conservation. Emily is also interested in near-shore ecosystems and research scuba diving. The cruise will give her valuable experience with fieldwork as an undergraduate and practice for further research.
