Leo Richards (Legs 1, 2 & 3)

Hello! My name is Leo Richards and I am an undergraduate studying Marine Biology at the University of Southampton in the UK. Since age 9, I have been creating wildlife documentaries on YouTube on my channel Natural World Facts, with a particular focus on marine and deep-sea environments in recent years. Through creating these films, I’ve developed a deep fascination for hydrothermal vents, deep midwaters, abyssal plains, and beyond; the biodiversity they host is staggering, yet regrettably under-studied. As an aspiring science communicator, I am keen to get hands-on with real-world marine science during the cruise, meet fellow scientists and students, and document the research, discoveries, and ecosystems that relate to the investigation to share the wonders of the Pacific deep with a wider audience.
