Ziggy Avetisyan (Leg 4)

Hello! I am Sergei Avetisyan, class of 2026, though I also go by Ziggy as a nickname. I’ve loved designing and building things for as long as I can remember, and the same goes for my love of the ocean. Before attending UW, I studied for two years at the Ocean Research College academy, where my amazing professors pushed me to devise and discover ways I could combine these two loves. This led me to The School of Oceanography at UW. I just finished my first year and I loved every bit of it: underwater robotics club, data visualization classes, python, and many other things have kept me happily busy! I am interested in science technician/field support work as a career, though the development of sensors, ROV’s, and other subsea technologies also excites me. I can’t wait to help out on this cruise and gain as much knowledge as I can!
