My name is Kenneth Lai and I am an undergraduate OOI intern majoring in microbiology and marine biology at the University of Washington. I am fascinated by the unique adaptations of alien-like microbes that inhabit the deep sea. I am currently working in the Morris Lab and intend to study the microbes at the plume emissions from Southern Hydrate Ridge on the VISIONS 21 expedition. I also plan to create an educational video about the animals of the habitats studied by the scientists of OOI. This expedition is my first time going to sea and I am so excited!
