My name is Elise! My pronouns are they/them. I’m a transfer student from North Seattle Community College, and I’m entering my last year at UW as an Oceanography major. While at North, I studied both art and science, earning myself an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts and a STEM transfer degree. I’ve applied this combination of skills and interests to my oceanographic studies, and have found myself drawn (haha) towards scientific communication, specifically the visualization of a variety of scientific concepts through accessible artistic mediums. I’m excited to be participating in the VISIONS’21 cruise and am looking forward to getting some hands-on oceanographic experience after a year and a half of nothing but online classes.
