Aakriti Vijay (Leg 4)
Hi, I am Aakriti Vijay and am a student at University of Washington. As a junior double majoring in oceanography and marine biology, my passion for the ocean runs deep. I have always been fascinated by its mysteries and the diverse life it harbors. In fact, I am a certified rescue diver and have ambitions of becoming a dive instructor in the future.
Participating in Visions 23 is a significant milestone in my career journey. This opportunity allows me to take a step forward and gain invaluable hands-on experience. The chance to witness the impact of critical issues like hydrothermal vents, sea level rise, and water acidification firsthand is truly exciting. Being able to study these phenomena in their natural environment will deepen my understanding and inspire me to find innovative solutions for the challenges our oceans face. Exploring the ocean’s depths and encountering its marvels will be a transformative experience. By working alongside scientists, engineers, and fellow students, I hope to contribute to the collective efforts of preserving our marine ecosystems.
